Forest Hills Schools
Instructional Technology Specialist
Cincinnati, OH
I began my career in 1988. After nine years in third grade, I spent two years as a fourth grade teacher. I then earned my certification in gifted education and assumed the role of Gifted Intervention Specialist from 1997-2006.

In 2006, I was asked to lead the T.A.B.L.E.T. Project, a district-wide program developed to support teachers in their growing understanding of instructional technology. As the Instructional Technology Specialist for our K-12 school district, I design and lead research-based professional development experiences which focus on the integration of content, pedagogy and technology to support student learning. I was the co-lead on the district BYOL pilot project. I am currently leading a team of incredible people who are interested in the ways in which technology can support and enhance learning.

I have had a wide and varied assortment of training opportunities throughout the past seven years. I spent three years as a fellow for Sheryl Nussbaum Beach and Will Richardson, founders of Powerful Learning Practice. I have been Google trained and received LoTi training. In 2011, I earned my Master of Science in Instructional Media.

My greatest professional growth has occurred through the development of my personal learning network. Through such social media as Twitter, blogging, Google Plus and Skype, I am connected to people who have taught me the real meaning of learning. For the first time in my life, my learning is rich, authentic and self-directed. I believe learning is social and that collectively we can do amazing things.

Update: I will return to the classroom for the 2016-2017 school year. Lucky me will get to work with 5th graders designing experiences around reading and writing. I cannot wait!
